Kenyan pedigree stud lines
Boran
All our stud bulls are carefully drawn from ancestry pedigree lines from Kenya. Our current stud bull is a pedigree Boran bull with its origin in Kenya — we care to use only pure Boran bulls to improve our beef herds, which are comprised of Ankole cattle and Ankole × Boran crossbreeds.
Our choice for the Boran as our beef animal is predicated on the well-developed beef conformation that shows up in carcase appraisals. The depth of eye muscle, marbling, even fat cover and ratio of hind to forequarter make the Boran difficult to beat — hence the preference of butchers for Boran cattle.

Ankole region — Western Uganda
Ankole
This breed was kept by Julius’ grandparents in present-day Ankole region in Western Uganda — particularly the area now known as Sheema District, Kitagata, adjacent to Queen Elizabeth National Park and famous for the Kitagata Hot Springs.
Julius spent a great amount of his childhood years grazing his late grandfather’s Ankole cattle — a passion that only translated into the commercial farmer and owner of Nimukama Mixed Farm that he now is. Julius is an ardent lover of cattle, almost to infectious levels!

Holstein dairy breed
Friesian
On the farm, a sizeable number of Holstein Friesian cattle is kept. This breed is known for its high milk yields and a great proportion of the farm’s operational income comes from milk sales from the Friesians.
Holstein Friesians (often shortened as Friesians in Europe, and Holsteins in North America) are a breed of dairy cattle originating from the Dutch provinces of North Holland and Friesland, and what is now Schleswig-Holstein in Northern Germany. They are known as the world’s highest-production dairy animals.

FMD, LSD and Black Quarter kept current, with regular on-farm veterinary rounds.
