Nimukama Mixed Farm was founded in 2010 by Julius Byamukama in Kyankwanzi District, Butemba — in Uganda's cattle corridor. It runs on a simple, deliberate idea: a well-managed mixed farm — working dogs, commercial livestock, and cash crops — earns more consistently than any single enterprise, while building soil health and steady local employment.
Our story
Built on the land, not on speculation
Across six enterprises — protection and working dogs, Boran cattle, Mubende goats, poultry, bananas and pineapples — each line balances the others: dogs are high-value and low-volume, livestock and poultry provide regular cash flow, and the crops help cover the farm's running costs.
NMF Kennels, the farm's dog unit, breeds German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Rottweilers and Boerboels. It runs a dedicated training facility with a qualified handler and a team of K9 instructors, producing guard and protection dogs for homes, businesses and security operators. One of our Malinois studs descends from Berry II — winner of the 2010 KNPV Stud Dog Trial in the Netherlands and sire of many police and military dogs — reflecting a simple breeding principle: quality “is not expensive but priceless.”
Together the enterprises let the business weather a downturn in any single sector — while keeping people employed and the land productive year-round.
Milestone · 2019
The launch of NMF Kennels Uganda
In 2019 the farm formally launched NMF Kennels Uganda — bringing its working-dog breeding and training programme to the public with live demonstrations, guests and the wider Kyankwanzi community.
It marked the moment the kennels grew from an in-house security unit into a recognised breeder of German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Rottweilers and Boerboels.
